  • Only parties with data_id >= 100 and data_id < 990 are included
  • Exception for round 1, parties with data_id >= 1 and data_id < 990 are included

Variables

  • countrycode -- ISO 3166-1 alpha-3
  • round -- Afrobarometer round
  • year -- Year of the round
  • party_id -- countrycode-round-data_id
  • name_short -- party abbreviation based on data_name (see afrobarometer.R)
  • name_english -- party name english based on data_name (see afrobarometer.R)
  • name -- party name based on data_name (see afrobarometer.R)
  • size -- share of respondents choosing the party across all party variables per round and country
  • n -- number of respondents choosing the party across all party variables per round and country
  • n_total -- total number of respondents across all party variables per round and country
  • data_id -- Value for the party in the STATA files
  • data_name -- Label for the party in the STATA files
  • variable -- Variable name(s) of party-related variables (separated by //)

name_short, name_english, name, and data_name can contain multiple names in case the labels in the STATA files differed due to typos/spelling. Multiple names are separated by //.
