The following data protection information will tell you how we handle the collection, use and forwarding of personal data.

General handling of personal data

We attach great importance to protecting your privacy. We have therefore designed our internet pages so that they can be used anonymously. We use information that we receive and save during your visit to our webpages solely for internal purposes and to improve the design of the website. An exception to this is made when necessary for defense against attacks that represent criminal offenses or restrict the functioning of our web presence. For this purpose only, we record the IP address of your computer, for example, which is saved for a maximum of seven days as a security measure. The data is only stored on servers in the European Economic Area, the U.K. and/or the USA.

Usage data

When you visit our webpages, “usage data” are temporarily stored as a protocol on our webserver for statistical purposes, so that we can improve the quality of our website. This data record consists of the following:

  • the page from which the file was requested,
  • the name of the file,
  • the date and time of the request,
  • the quantity of data transferred,
  • the access status (file transferred, file not found),
  • the description of the type of web browser used,
  • the IP address of the requesting computer.

We use this information to enable our website to be accessed, for control purposes, for managing our systems and for improving the design of the webpages. We delete the IP address after seven days. There is therefore no way of generating personal user profiles. No data are collected about specific persons or their individual behavior.

User account data

Visitors have the possibility to register on our webpage. We are storing the following information for registered users if they have provided them during your initial sign-up process: Email, Name. Additionally, we save the time of their last login and their password in encrypted format. We als keep track of all user activities that alter data (eg. linking, validating, changing party information). Registered users can always delete their account by contacting us and we will delete the account as soon as technically possible and anonymize their user activities. Because of our long-term backup infrastructure it can take up to 12 months until the user data is deleted from all parts of our technical infrastructure.

Contacting us

You can contact us by e-mail. Any personal information communicated or transmitted in this way is processed only in order to answer your inquiry. They are forwarded to third parties only to the extent that this is required for processing your request.

Your rights as a user

As a user you have the right to request information about which data about yourself are stored on our system and the purpose they are stored for. In addition, you can have incorrect data corrected, or have data deleted whose storage is not permitted or no longer required. Please contact us if you have information requests, other wishes or suggestions concerning data protection.

Encryption

In order to protect your data from unwanted access, we use an encryption procedure on all sites (except for http://partyfacts.org which does nothing except redirecting you to https://partyfacts.herokuapp.com/). Your information is then transferred from your computer to our server and vice versa via the internet using 128-bit TLS encryption (Transport Layer Security). This is indicated by the lock symbol in the status bar of your browser and the address line beginning with https://.
